The idea of the restaurant was conceived over the course of travels around the US and other parts of the world. It was originally planned on being a project started in retirement, but was started earlier when fate intervened. The cafe opened its doors in February, 2022.
After travel in Spain and Portugal, Linda and Beau wanted to create a local place to enjoy some of the dishes discovered there. Charcuterie and cheese boards were one of the early specialties. To these have been added a variety of other favorites discovered by Warren and our dedicated staff.
Chef Jeff is a Miami native who started early in the kitchens of his native city. A dishwasher at 14, a server and bartender in his late teens, and finally back in the kitchen at 22 as a chef. He has worked in restaurants around the country, including Miami, Orlando, Denver and East Tennessee. Locally he has served as chef at Wicked Chicken, Harvest, Nama, and Myrtles Chicken. Most recently he was a sous chef at Seasons Innovative Bar and Grill in Knoxville. Between his Italian heritage and the multicultural offerings of his hometown, we look forward to flavors that are big, bold and fresh.
Linda and Beau James, and son Warren LaForest, started 201 Cafe and Wine Bar as a place to share their passions of wine, live music, and interesting food with their neighbors and friends.
They hope to create a warm, inviting, and unique home-grown atmosphere in which to share these simple pleasures.
